Year One Parents Engage in Phonics Screening Workshop

Manor Drive Primary Academy, part of the Four Cs Trust, was delighted to welcome so many Year One parents to our recent Phonics Screening Workshop. The strong turnout reflected our community’s shared commitment to supporting early reading and ensuring every child develops the confidence and skills they need to thrive. Parents had the opportunity to explore how phonics is taught in school, understand the structure of the screening check, and see practical examples of how to support reading at home.
A special “Thank You” goes to Miss Mason, our Assistant Headteacher and Phonics Lead, for leading the session with such clarity and expertise. Her explanation of this statutory assessment helped demystify the process for families and provided valuable insight into how we prepare pupils in a supportive, child‑centred way. We are grateful to all parents who attended and continue to work in partnership with us to nurture a love of reading across our school community.
