Passport Around the World Day Brings Global Learning to Life at Four Cs Manor Drive Primary Academy 16.01.26

On Friday 16th January, Four Cs Manor Drive Primary Academy was transformed into a hub of global discovery as pupils took part in a vibrant Passport Around the World Day.

The day began with a whole-school assembly, where our ‘captains’, Mrs Marks and Mrs Parrott, set the scene by simulating an exciting ferry journey, ready to transport pupils across the globe. From there, each class set off to explore their chosen country, immersing themselves in a day of cultural learning and exploration.

Reception children travelled to France, where learning was brought to life through a play-based curriculum. They explored geography by locating France on a map and learning about the French flag and its colours. The children discovered famous French foods and landmarks, including the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre, and even practised counting to ten in French, developing early language skills through fun and interactive activities.

In Year One, pupils explored India, learning key facts about the country and discovering important festivals that are celebrated there. They learned about famous landmarks such as the Taj Mahal and why it is so well known. As part of their religious education, children focused on Hinduism, learning about the holy book, the Vedas, and listening to the creation story of Rama and Sita. The day also included traditional Indian dance activities, allowing pupils to experience Indian culture through movement.

Year Two pupils journeyed to Brazil, starting by locating the country on a world map. They explored key facts including the capital city, Brasília, and learned about Brazil’s climate. The children were fascinated by Brazilian wildlife, particularly animals from the Amazon rainforest, and learned about popular Brazilian foods. This learning linked to art, where pupils created vibrant rainforest-inspired artwork. They also explored Brazil’s famous Carnival celebrations and learned about the traditional dances associated with this colourful festival.

In Year Three, pupils focused on South Africa, learning about key facts, important landmarks and popular tourist destinations. They explored the history and meaning behind the South African flag, discovering how it represents unity and diversity. As part of their language learning, children learned greetings and how to count to ten in Afrikaans. They also produced stunning artwork of African plains and animal silhouettes, reflecting the landscapes and wildlife of South Africa.

Years Four and Five enjoyed an exciting and engaging exploration of Spain. Pupils developed their understanding of Spanish geography and key geographical features, explored traditional Spanish cuisine, and learned about the life and work of famous artist Pablo Picasso, gaining insight into his unique style. The children took part in a lively Flamenco dance session and learned and performed a song in Spanish, helping to develop their language skills while deepening their appreciation of Spanish culture.

Passport Around the World Day was a wonderful opportunity for pupils across the school to broaden their understanding of the world, celebrate cultural diversity and bring their learning to life in an engaging and memorable way.
