Pupils Celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year with a Feast at Manor Drive Primary Academy

Children at Four Cs Trust’s Manor Drive Primary Academy welcomed the Chinese Lunar New Year in delicious style today with a special themed school dinner full of flavour, colour and tradition.

The school hall was filled with excitement as pupils enjoyed a carefully prepared celebratory menu designed to honour the meaning and symbolism of the festival. The star of the feast was sticky honey “Good Fortune” chicken thigh, a sweet and savoury dish symbolising happiness and prosperity for the year ahead.

Children were encouraged to “Eat Curious” with a vibrant golden stir-fry, packed with flavour and colour, alongside fragrant lunar rice. A wealth of Chinese steamed vegetables, including fresh green cabbage, carrots and sweetcorn , added both crunch and colour to the festive plates.

To finish, pupils were treated to Zodiac Chinese cookies, bringing a sweet end to the celebration and sparking conversations about the Chinese zodiac and the traditions surrounding the Lunar New Year.

The special lunch not only gave children the opportunity to try new foods, but also helped them learn more about different cultures and celebrations from around the world. Staff were delighted to see so many pupils embracing the experience and tasting something new.

It was a joyful and memorable way for the Manor Drive Primary Academy community to come together, celebrate diversity and welcome the Lunar New Year with good fortune and great food. đŸ§§
