World Book Day 2026

Pupils and staff at Manor Drive Primary Academy, part of the Four Cs Trust, had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day with a range of exciting activities designed to promote a love of reading.

Throughout the day, children took part in book swaps, giving them the opportunity to share stories they love and discover new books to enjoy. Pupils also engaged enthusiastically in reading quizzes and completed the popular Favourite Book Hunt, searching for clues and titles hidden around the school.

To encourage reading for pleasure, children were invited to keep a book on their table throughout the day and take part in regular “Drop and Read” sessions. At different points during the day, everyone paused to enjoy some quiet reading time, helping to create a calm and focused atmosphere across the school.

Both staff and pupils also shared their favourite storybooks, sparking conversations about beloved characters, exciting adventures, and memorable authors. It was wonderful to see so many recommendations being exchanged.

World Book Day wouldn’t be complete without some fantastic costumes! Children and staff came dressed as their favourite story characters, bringing books to life across the academy. There were many creative outfits on display, with prizes awarded for the best costumes.

Pupils also demonstrated their artistic talents by taking part in a competition to design and draw their favourite book cover. The entries were imaginative and colourful, showing just how much our children value the stories they read.

A huge “Thank You” goes to Miss Mason, our Reading Lead, who organised such a wonderful event. Her efforts helped create a day full of excitement, creativity and, most importantly, a celebration of reading for pleasure.

World Book Day at Manor Drive Primary Academy was a great success and a wonderful reminder of how books can inspire imagination, curiosity and a lifelong love of reading.
