Year Three Geckos and Roadrunners Explore Africa Through Reading

As part of their Africa topic in reading, the Year Three Geckos and Roadrunners have been working hard to develop their reading fluency through choral and echo reading. These engaging techniques have helped pupils build confidence as they read aloud together, practise expression, and support one another.
The children also took turns reading aloud to their peers, strengthening both their speaking and listening skills. Their enthusiasm for the topic was clear as they demonstrated a strong understanding of the texts studied.
To deepen their comprehension, pupils answered a range of retrieval questions about Angola and Botswana. They showed excellent recall of key facts and a growing curiosity about the diverse cultures and landscapes across the African continent.
This unit continues to inspire the Geckos and Roadrunners as they build essential literacy skills while broadening their global awareness.
