Year Three Become Young Journalists at Manor Drive Primary Academy

Year Three pupils at Manor Drive Primary Academy, part of the Four Cs Trust, have been busy honing their journalism skills in an exciting writing project inspired by The Tear Thief by Carol Ann Duffy.

As part of their English learning, the children planned and wrote their own newspaper reports based on the themes and events of the book. They were challenged to make their writing engaging and informative by using a range of key writing features, including subordinating conjunctions, varied sentence openers, time adverbials and ambitious vocabulary.

Throughout the process, pupils demonstrated fantastic creativity, focus and determination. From carefully planning their reports to drafting, editing and refining their work, everyone worked incredibly hard to produce high-quality pieces of writing.

The project concluded with the children proudly publishing their final newspaper articles, celebrating their achievements as young writers. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow and their enthusiasm for writing shine through.

Well done to all of Year Three for their impressive efforts and excellent published work!
