We were delighted to welcome 16 trainee teachers from Teach East SCITT to Manor Drive Primary Academy, part of The Four Cs Trust, for two inspiring days of intensive Teaching and Practice (ITaP) focused on the importance of scaffolding within adaptive and inclusive teaching.
The trainees began day one with a presentation exploring SEND and our whole-school approach to scaffolding as a key element of adaptive practice. We were proud to share how carefully structured support, high expectations, and responsive teaching strategies ensure that every pupil can access learning and achieve success.
Following the presentation, trainees visited classrooms across the school to observe scaffolding in action within a range of core and foundation subjects. From carefully modelled examples and visual supports to targeted questioning and structured talk opportunities, they were able to see how inclusive strategies are embedded in everyday practice at Manor Drive.
Day two provided the opportunity for trainees to apply their learning. Working collaboratively, they planned and designed their own lessons with scaffolding at the forefront, ensuring learning was accessible for all pupils. They then engaged in deliberate practice by team teaching small groups, before reflecting thoughtfully on the impact of their lesson design and delivery.
It was a pleasure to host such enthusiastic and reflective trainees, and we thoroughly enjoyed having them with us over the two days.
A huge thank you to our Deputy Head, Mrs Parrott, and our SENCO, Ms Pearson, for their expertise and support in making the ITaP experience such a success.
